When Delay falls, all those standing behind him should follow. Hastert echoes Delay, calling the indictments "political," Blunt says they have increased support for Delay.
The Congressional Ethics Coalition, which includes batshit-crazy Judicial Watch, has been following the Delay case, including the indictments. In a rational world, the Delay indictments would lead to a Congressional ethics investigation, since "the money laundering allegation in a congressional ethics complaint filed against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay involves the same $190,000 in political contributions that led to indictments of the Texas congressman's aides on similar charges." For background on the indictments, see the Houston Chronicle's coverage [recent articles in rough chronological order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5] and the Washington Post account. For background on Congressman's Chris Bell's ethics complaint against Delay, see here.
Common Cause asks for our help in holding Delay accountable.
We need your help to ensure that this complaint against Rep. DeLay is properly and thoroughly investigated. House leaders need to hear from us today. Ask them to urge the Ethics Committee to appoint an independent counsel to investigate the complaints against Rep. DeLay.Other possible actions: stop eating at Cracker Barrel, stop drinking Bacardi, rage impotently at Westar, don't shop at Sears.
